Getting to know Patool Makki

Hi! I am Patool. I am dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care in a supportive and nonjudgmental environment. I believe that seeking support is a sign of strength, and I strive to help clients navigate life's challenges while building resilience and achieving meaningful personal growth. I am committed to creating a safe space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered. Together, we will identify goals, develop effective coping strategies, and work toward lasting emotional well-being. I welcome individuals from diverse backgrounds and strive to provide culturally responsive care that honors each person's values, experiences, and identity. I look forward to supporting you on your journey toward healing, growth, and improved quality of life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

When working with me, you can expect a compassionate and direct approach. I value honesty, trust, and open communication, and I encourage clients to share feedback about what is and is not working in therapy. Together, we will identify meaningful goals, build practical coping skills, and address the underlying factors contributing to distress. I have experience working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship difficulties, and substance use concerns. I utilize evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, and trauma-informed interventions.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A typical therapy process with me begins with an initial intake session, where we focus on understanding your current concerns, relevant history, and what you would like to gain from therapy. This session helps us clarify your goals and begin identifying the main areas we will work on together. In the early stages of treatment, we work collaboratively to build a foundation of trust and develop a clear treatment plan. This often includes identifying symptoms, patterns, triggers, and strengths, as well as introducing coping strategies that can help stabilize distress and improve day-to-day functioning. As therapy continues, sessions typically focus on working toward your specific goals using evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, ACT, Motivational Interviewing, and trauma-informed interventions. This may include developing emotional regulation skills, improving communication, processing past experiences, and addressing unhelpful thought or behavior patterns.
