Getting to know Patricia Brennan

Do you feel stuck and unsure of what to do next to help your child? Maybe you feel as if you have tried everything you can and still do not have the outcome you wish. I would like to help you figure out what those next steps can be. I have 8 years of experience working with children and adolescents (preschool through high school) as a CT certified school psychologist in a school system. I also hold a Master's in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Hartford. With my additional license as a Professional Counselor (LPC), I bring a unique skill set to a private practice that allows me to really understand your child through multiple lenses and aspects of life. My specialties include Autism Spectrum Disorder, learning disabilities, executive function difficulties, ADHD, anxiety, depression, social difficulties, and overall behavioral management.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I offer in-person psychological evaluations and virtual counseling sessions, group and individual, for CT residents. For testing, the first session will involve gathering information, determining what battery of tests to administer and scheduling next appointments (i.e. interview, testing, review of results). For counseling, the first session will be an intake session where I will learn about your child/adolescent and pick tentative goals to work towards in counseling. The following sessions will focus on working towards those goals, with the hope that your child/adolescent will learn concrete skills needed to be a more whole individual and face challenges successfully.

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
