Getting to know Patricia Brozinsky

Life can be very stressful. Change and acceptance are difficult and sometimes seem downright impossible. As a psychotherapist, my goal is to help you feel supported, gain confidence, and cope with life's stressors. Together, we will create a flexible treatment plan tailor-made for you. You will gain insight, learn coping skills, and become more self-empowered. I have over 33 years' experience helping adults who suffer from anxiety, depression, loss/grief, relationship issues, and life transitions. My experience also includes teaching all levels of psychology and supervising other therapists. I hold a Master's in Social Work from the State University of New York, Stony Brook. Remember, our sessions will be tailor-made to meet your wants and needs. To help me fulfill my promise of tailor-made sessions, I adhere to the following mandate: ?Know your theories well?then place them on the shelf when in a room with the miracle of a human soul,? by Carl Gustav Jung, founder of analytical psychology. Problems that we cannot solve, together we will manage. Please inquire about my sliding scale policy to meet your financial needs. CANCELLATION POLICY - If you need to cancel an appointment, please let us know at least two business days ahead of time. If you don't contact us or don't show up within 15 minutes of the scheduled time, we will need to charge your credit card on file the full amount for the reserved time. Health insurance doesn't cover missed appointments, and our therapists depend on timely, full payment to provide the highest quality of care to all of our patients. However, if an unforeseen situation arises?such as illness, bereavement, an accident, etc.?we will waive the fee if you can provide documentation that substantiates it.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My goal is to help you be all that you can be. I’d like you to think of our sessions together, whether we meet in person or over Zoom, as your Temenos, your sacred place, where you feel safe and free from judgment. We will discuss anything that’s on your mind at the moment. If it makes you feel good, we’ll celebrate it. If it makes you feel sad, scared or angry we’ll discuss it till it becomes a non-issue for you. We'll be on this journey together.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The process is talk therapy where you share anything you feel comfortable sharing, knowing that whatever you share is kept confidential and there is never any judgment. Often, the very process of sharing is therapeutic. We will explore the who/what/where/why/when of it all, too. I usually ask some questions to clarify details. You will have my full and undivided attention. (Please note: there is one caveat to confidentiality, that is if you are a danger to yourself or others, as a mandated reporter I must alert the authorities.) Beyond that, what you say here stays here.
