Patricia Ellis-Christensen, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
You will find me talkative, alert, and tuned in to what you have to say. I know therapy is hard; I've done lots of it myself. So my presence in your life is to make it easier to do what is difficult. If you're challenged by a mood disorder, finding yourself in conflict with a partner, or looking at the deep work to create change, I will be there. My approach Each client is different. You will find I have a lot of opinions which you can accept or reject. I also have deep feelings about each person who walks into a therapy session. For some people, that resonates a lot, and most people would describe me as supportive. But you get to tell me what you need, and hopefully that's what I am for you. My focus My clients work hard. They show up for sessions, ready to be engaged in the process of therapy. Clients who are prescribed meds take their meds. It's vital if we're going to get anything done. Attendance is really important too, and even though I'm sure we all get sick sometimes, regularly showing up makes a difference. My communication style I am direct and talkative. I listen very much, but I'm engaged and relational, also sometimes a little funny. I stay focused on what my clients say, but I also sometimes challenge or suggest alternatives. This is unlike some therapists, and some people find it refreshing. My goals for you Clients have to define goals to reach them, and the early definitions aren't always the best ones. I look at the client's progress and help clients deal with where they are. I use various tools when they seem appropriate. But this is very individualized stuff.
