Getting to know Patricia Martin

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist serving residents of California. I hold a Master's degree in Marriage, Family, and Child Therapy from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor's degree from California State University, San Marcos. I understand that making the choice to begin treatment can be stressful, and I hope to make the process easier by providing a comfortable space to start. I am passionate about offering quality care to people who want to feel better and work on managing life stressors but don't know where or how to start. I am empathetic and work to meet every person where they are, with the goal of empowering them to make positive, long-lasting changes in their lives. Together, we can utilize your strengths to create and maintain ways to cope and live a healthy, balanced life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I have experience working with individuals, couples, groups, and families in a psychiatric hospital, inpatient substance use facility, sexual assault/child abuse trauma crisis center, riverside county jail system, and private practice. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, stress, panic, relationship issues, trauma, self-esteem and life transitions.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first communication will be an intake session, which is fairly structured. You will have plenty of time to share your needs and we will evaluate if it is a good fit. From there, we will create a treatment plan that includes goals for therapy and the estimated time to complete them. Homework is given from time to time with weekly check-ins on progress & growth.
