Patricia Ray, LCSW

Psychotherapist
IL
Hi there, I'm Patricia Ray, LCSW. I am a client-centered therapist dedicated to helping individuals identify and achieve their personal goals. As an eclectic therapist, I adopt a client-centered approach that empowers individuals to harness their strengths and enhance their lives. I hold a Bachelor's degree and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. My approach includes Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Informed care, and Psychodynamic Therapy. I often work with individuals facing challenges stemming from past traumatic events, which may lead to depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), stress, relationship issues, anger management concerns, or low self-esteem. Additionally, I support those dealing with bipolar disorder or other mood-related concerns. I strive to create a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere that helps individuals feel comfortable and encourages open sharing. My journey in mental healthcare spans 35 years, during which I have worked with people from all walks of life. I began in substance abuse treatment, mental health centers, women’s and men’s shelters, and domestic violence programs, driven by a desire to help people rise above their pain. I take a collaborative approach, starting by identifying broad desires and then working together to set specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound goals. Our first session is about getting to know one another, building trust, setting expectations, gathering information, discussing goals, answering questions, and evaluating the fit for everyone.
