Getting to know Patrick Osmonson

I have worked extensively in the areas of substance use disorders, codependency, domestic violence, and anger management. My experience includes substantial work with co-occurring disorders, and as a veteran, I can relate strongly to veteran issues. One reason I entered the field is to give back for the help I received when I was younger. I genuinely enjoy seeing my clients grow and become empowered to better solve their own issues. I use a variety of techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma-Informed Therapy. My focus is always on client-centered therapy. If you have any questions or concerns, please ask. I hold a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in marriage, family, and child counseling from National University. I am a Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor in the State of Arizona, a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional from Evergreen Certifications, and hold a Certificate of Competence as a Substance Abuse Treatment Specialist from the Naval Military Personnel Command.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness Therapy are my preferred approaches.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Expect the first session to focus on rapport building, assessment and possibly treatment planning. The remainder of the sessions will be person centered focus on resolving ambivalence and reaching treatment goals in the agreed upon time frame.
