Getting to know Patrick Pierre
I believe in helping people empower themselves forward toward their goals. I work with and learn from adults, children, families and couples as they navigate the complex and nuanced issues of life, helping them build relationships, and recover from depression, anxiety, PTSD, mood disorders, and personality disorders. I've spent the last four years working with and learning from adolescent survivors of severe physical, emotional and sexual abuse using Dialectical Behavior Therapy, but I ultimately take a Human-Centered Aprproach. I enjoy learning my clients' stories, experiences, strengths and resiliencies, regardless of ideology or identity. I use a direct style, emphasize skill building, and support personal independence. I obtained my Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California and hold licenses in both mental health and chemical dependency counseling. I am married and the father of two wonderful children, who constantly remind me that even those who teach others about relationships are always in need of more learning and coaching themselves. My wife and I adventure across the world each year in order to strengthen our relationship, and most recently, hiked our way to the top Ben Nevis, the tallest mountain in Scotland. As a family, we enjoy playing dungeons and dragons, cozying up for movie nights, playing sports and dancing badly to every kind of music.
