Getting to know Paul Morr

In my virtual practice, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing-Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MI-MET) as approaches to treatment. What does this mean for you? Using CBT, we will look at how shifts in behavior lead to shifts in thoughts, beliefs, and feelings. ACT helps us take effective action guided by our deepest values while acknowledging our fears and not being paralyzed by them. MI-MET allows us to identify the true, motivating, values-based “why,” increasing the likelihood of making sustainable change and experiencing positive outcomes. Working together, we will identify and practice the skills necessary to manage the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that are interfering with your daily life. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from the University of South Florida, which has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to support you effectively on your journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My role as your therapist is to help you identify and achieve your goals. I focus on CBT, ACT, and MI-MET because these approaches are effective and recognize that you are the expert on yourself. I take a conversational approach to our work together and am committed to creating a safe, accepting, judgement free environment.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I provide teletherapy using a safe and secure (web-based, HIPAA compliant) video conference platform that can be accessed through your laptop, tablet, or phone. The flexibility of teletherapy helps to minimize barriers that may have prevented you from seeking help in the past.

You can tell he is very knowledgeable. He was very good at understanding what I was having a hard time verbalizing and I really appreciated that I never felt judged. His focus was on my goals and needs and not necessarily my problems. It was nice to speak to someone who wasn’t just trying to validate my feelings and instead provided great advice.
