Getting to know Paul Owen

My goal is for you to leave each session feeling a little bit lighter, like you've been heard and that we're working together on what's important to you. I hope you find our sessions to be a safe place to explore things, and that you leave with a greater understanding of yourself. I genuinely enjoy working with people of all ages—children, adults, couples, and families. I've worked in many different settings, including private practice, hospice, hospitals, schools, and senior living communities.

What should a new client know about working with you?

While I specialize in grief/loss, anxiety, depression, there are various other areas I have experience in supporting clients with. I can integrate music therapy interventions to help you manage your stress, process your emotions and more. My approach is really focused on you as an individual. I strive to create a safe, comfortable space where we can explore whatever brought you to counseling together, using a person-centered and holistic approach.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

For each session we will typically start with a check-in. This will be an opportunity for you to talk about how life has been going since our last appointment. From there we will discuss what you need out of the appointment that day or review any homework from the previous session. We will review your therapy goals from time to time to make sure we are making progress and/or that we are still working toward what's most important to you.
