I'm so happy that you reached out for help. I am Paul Teska, a licensed professional counselor- therapist. You can read more about my background, education, experience, and therapy approach by clicking on my name on this page. Remember, I am here for you. Throughout my career, I have probably worked with every single situation in the counseling field. I have worked inpatient, outpatient, and telepatient. I have worked in prisons, jails, psychiatric hospitals, IDD facilities, community MHMR, and community counseling centers. My specialties include drug and alcohol addiction, trauma, major depression, bipolar, schizophrenia, anxiety, stress, marital problems, anger management, and people with LGBTQ issues. My two current licenses are license professional counselor and licensed chemical dependency counselor. I previously held a state license of certified criminal justice professional, and I almost have two other licenses of behavior analyst and licensed psychologist. I take great pride that I have never had a single diagnose overturned on the basis of symptoms of the DSM-5. I have worked with clients all over the client of every age, faith orientation, ethnicity, and English as a second language in over 50 countries and almost every single US state and territory. I truly believe that clients get out of treatment what they put into it. When a client wants to get better, I just have to point them in the correct direction. I truly believe that every client can get better if he or she wants to get better. Paul Teska, LPC + LCDC

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Clients are experts on their own lives, and I am an expert on counseling. Because that is true, counseling is a very simple process. The client has to tell me a lot about themselves, and then I can help them by telling them when counseling can be of value to them. I generally want the client to talk about 80% of the time. The more that the client talks, the more information that is shared.
