Getting to know Paula Bamgbose-Martins

At some point in life, most of us feel stuck — in tough transitions, relationship or family stress, anxiety, depression, chronic illness, or just the overwhelm of trying to hold everything together. When you're in it, it can feel lonely and hard to see a way forward. You don’t have to figure it out on your own. I see therapy as a space where you can exhale. A place to sort through what’s weighing on you, understand yourself more deeply, and reconnect with the strengths you already have — even if they don’t feel accessible right now. I’m here as a supportive sounding board and a steady, honest voice, helping you move toward becoming a more confident, grounded, and self-trusting version of yourself. Hi, I’m Paula, a Licensed Psychotherapist providing services in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Texas, and Delaware. I earned two Master’s degrees from the University of Pennsylvania: an M.Phil.Ed. in Professional Counseling and an M.S.Ed. in Counseling and Mental Health Services. With nearly a decade of experience, one thing I know for sure is this: the “self” is incredibly powerful. When we better understand who we are, why we respond the way we do, and what we truly need, real and lasting change becomes possible. It’s an honor to walk alongside people in their healing and self-discovery, and I’d love to support you on your journey.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Paula Bamgbose-Martins is amazing. She is really sweet and helped me through things I was and am still going through.
Paula is the best! I’m currently going through a family crisis and found it challenging to gather my thoughts and emotions. She’s helped me to see things from a different perspective as well as see where growth is needed in order to heal and to develop a healthy relationship with my children.
Paula is an absolute gem. From the very first session, I felt seen, heard, and affirmed in a way I hadn’t before. Every session is somehow exactly what I need it to be, even if I don’t know what I need going into it. A true professional, with a warm aura, deeply embedded in the work.
I appreciate her work more than I can say. The way Dr. Paula is able to point out nuances I’ve missed and model healthier approaches has already made so much of a difference in my life. Her understanding of my cultural upbringing means I don’t have to explain or defend certain things and allows me to speak honestly about my life. I’m so thankful to be working with her.
This has been my best therapeutic relationship, hands down. Paula is great at probing and having me reflect on things I say during our sessions. She asks me to think about things after our session and remember to follow up on those assignments in the next session. I feel like I’ve done so much work and our brief time together than I have all my previous therapies.
Paula is so kind and patient, honest and open, and very clearly brilliant. In just my first few months of talking with her I’ve felt so heard and challenged and ultimately that’s encouraging my growth moving forward. I would and have recommended her to people in my life that are seeking therapy!
Paula's therapeutic approach utilizes kindness, humor, directness, and compassionate curiosity. She is honest about the gravity of the work that is done in therapy, and she also helps constructively challenge me while also using an empowering and holistic approach. Through her approach, I can see that she carries a therapeutic philosophy centering the patient and their experiences, wellness, and growth/healing in a very honest and intentional way.
glad to have found a therapidt who can speak to core aspects of my lived experience and one who has been able to provide me with resources to help build better, healthier boundaries.
Paula creates a really comfortable space to talk about really uncomfortable things, which makes it easier for me to share openly.
