Getting to know Pedro Narvaez

Hi there, I'm Damian, a Texas-based Clinical Social Worker. Over the years, I've enjoyed providing case management and therapy to adults seeking care for physical trauma, complex medical issues, sexual health, HIV care, and LGBTQ+ support. More recently, I've focused on Serious Mental Illness (SMI), and I've commonly worked with individuals dealing with bipolar disorder, depression, and anxiety. An overwhelming majority of the people I’ve worked with really just want to move forward and find a new sense of normal they can settle into. We’ll definitely explore what’s led up to present day that brings you into therapy, but pretty quickly, we’re gonna talk shop about what you’d like to see different in the future. I primarily use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) in my practice. These therapeutic approaches complement each other well, and if you're curious to learn more about them, there are plenty of short clips on YouTube that provide a brief overview. Working with me means you'll find a supportive and non-judgmental space to explore what’s going on. We are living in times where so many groups of people struggle to explore and express who they are and what they believe in. I identify with being multiracial, gay, and someone who appreciates consensual non-monogamous practices. I am also humble enough to say I am no expert in all the identities known to us at present day, but I value learning from each individual I work with. I will always do my best to honor each person that works with me and help them be their best self.
