Hello, I'm Peggy. One of the statements I hear most often from people starting therapy is, 'I just feel stuck.' Moving forward in life, whether it is due to grief and loss, depression and anxiety, excessive worry or panic, trauma-related symptoms, insomnia, or needing to re-learn life skills, oftentimes requires taking action to get 'unstuck.' I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to treat depression, anxiety, and panic by teaching skills to reframe negative thinking and activation skills to get moving again with manageable anxiety, and a calm body and mind. Additionally, I use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to work through trauma and trauma-related symptoms by accessing the brain's own information system to make traumatic images, thoughts, and feelings far less disturbing. Sleep is the foundation of all life. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) involves mini assessments to learn what keeps us from enjoying a full night's sleep and from there the work begins. Skills, sleep diaries, sleep restriction, and compression can help to make for a more restorative sleep. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is one of the fastest-growing and sought-after forms of therapy today due to its well-laid-out framework and easy-to-use skills that focus on Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Distress Tolerance, and Interpersonal Effectiveness or simply life skills to help build a more rich and satisfying life. I too am a mindfulness practitioner! Grief and loss is one of the most difficult and emotional times on our life’s journey. We feel like if the world could just stop turning for a while we could get our emotional footing. But... work, childcare, etc., can't wait. All losses are experienced at 100%. There are no big or small losses and grief can sometimes become complicated and difficult to move through. Grief must be witnessed. We know now that time does not heal all wounds, action steps do. As a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner with an MA and fourteen years of experience, I also have vast knowledge of other resources in our great state of Nebraska. I'm also a proud LGBTQIA+ ally. If you are wanting to get 'unstuck' from whatever is keeping you from living a full and satisfying life, I hope to see you soon. Best wishes, Peggy
