Psychotherapist
OR
I know seeking therapy can feel hard and finding a therapist you feel comfortable with is so important. I'm here to help you meet the challenges of modern life. I help people create healthier relationships, manage anxiety, and navigate life transitions, including career change, grief and loss, education and major moves. I am especially sensitive to the anxiety many have experienced over the past several years due to the current political climate, the pandemic, and issues such as climate grief. Whatever your goals, our first job is to establish the trust needed to engage in the work of therapy. I believe in meeting you where you are and going at a pace that feels comfortable to you as you take this step forward. My approach I am trained in Relational Gestalt therapy, which means I believe in working in the here and now rather than focusing on the past. We can grieve the past or worry about the future, but the present moment is where we can make change. I offer psychoeducation to help you make sense of your experience and how change happens. I focus on helping you understand how you generally get your needs met and if those strategies are working for you. Part of this involves understanding yourself better--I think of therapy as giving you an owner's manual to yourself. Together we will uncover your strengths and resources, help you work through the grief, fear and other emotions that hold you back, and increase the choices available to you for achieving your goals. My focus I work with adults of all ages, teens, and couples. I especially enjoy working with students in college or graduate school. I am LGBTQ+ allied and have worked with non-traditional relationship structures. I especially enjoy working with therapists and aspiring therapists. My communication style Communication is one of the most important parts of relationships, including the therapeutic relationship.
