What should a new client know about working with you?

I am relaxed and easy going and my focus is on listening to my clients to understand what is really important to them. We give information to help clients understand their issues better and we develop strategies to practice new behavior and ways of thinking. It is a collaborative and solution focused process. I use the first one or two meetings to do an assessment and explore a wide range of topics to identify any significant medical, health, mental, emotional, issues. Once we have a clear understanding of what is going on, we help our clients identify their priorities and what they want to work on.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Most of my meetings last about an hour. We usually like to meet once per week or every other week. We begin our meetings by asking how things have been going, what's new, and if any progress or set backs in the goals. We will discuss homework, if any was assigned, and then identify stresses, challenges, and goals for the future. We often explore thoughts, feelings, and behavioral reactions and look to identify adjustments that help in achieving desired goals.
