Hi there! My name is Peter, and I'm a Marriage and Family Therapist based in San Mateo, California. I help clients across the state navigate the complexities of their relationships, both at home and at work. With over a decade of experience working with youth, adults, parents, and families, I understand the unique challenges that people in the Bay Area face. I received my Master's in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University and am licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. I started my practice because I truly believe in people's ability to overcome adversity and achieve their goals. What should a new client know about working with you?

My main goal is to help clients feel confident and comfortable. We can't always know what the outcome will be, but it's helpful to feel confident that things are moving in the right direction. It's also critical that clients feel comfortable with the process. In the first session, we will focus on defining the presenting issue and setting actionable goals . If possible, I hope to send you home with some tools as early as the first session.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Most commonly, clients come to see when when they are experiencing depression, anxiety or relationship issues at home and/or at work. I utilize cognitive behavioral strategies to identify negative thought loops and behavioral patterns that can be adjusted to create healthier ways of coping and managing unfavorable emotions.
