What should a new client know about working with you?

Petra's Focus It's all about you! A wide range of counseling services are tailored to what you need and where you want to focus. Sometimes, you may need to hear a complicated truth; other times, you need a sensitive ear. Together, we can navigate those areas and help equip and empower you to reach your full potential. Thus, mutual trust and a commitment to the therapeutic momentum are essential to your recovery. Petra's Approach Petra believes in the power of storytelling. Narrative therapy invites people to separate their problems from their personhood, encouraging individuals to make room for more preferred stories. Petra was trained as a member of the Narrative-Therapy Initiative of New England by Stephen Gaddis. Narrative therapy is rooted in curiosity and a conversation's natural turns. Let's rewrite the significant events in your life to help you craft a preferred narrative, thicken stories, and unleash your full potential.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During your first session, your therapist will ask questions to get to know you better and understand what brings you to counseling. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions about the counseling process. This can last more than one session and is tailored to the client's needs. In these initial exploratory sessions, we discuss what you hope to gain from therapy and what has motivated you to seek support. This provides context and future points of reference during sessions. A typical counseling session at Sage & Lore lasts for 50 minutes, although some sessions may be longer or shorter depending on your needs and preferences. The time it takes to see results from counseling sessions with Sage & Lore varies depending on the individual and the issues being addressed. Some clients may see improvements after just a few sessions, while others may require longer-term therapy. The frequency of counseling sessions with Sage & Lore will depend on your needs and goals. Some clients may benefit from weekly sessions, while others may attend bi-weekly or monthly. This will be decided collaboratively after a thorough assessment and evaluation is complete. Sessions may begin every week and, after a month or two, shift to a bi-weekly or even monthly basis. Sage & Lore does not accept insurance. Bypassing the corporate guidelines allows therapeutic sessions to be person-centered and influenced by the client's needs. Insurance panels require clients to be given a diagnosis even when one may be inappropriate. Also, diagnoses go on record in the medical files of the clients, which is a second reason not to accept insurance. Payment is due at the time of service. If your insurance desires a Superbill ( a receipt), one can be provided to help you in seeking potential reimbursement. You will need to contact your insurance provider to assess coverage parameters. If necessary, an Out-of-network invoice can be created for you at no extra charge.
