What should a new client know about working with you?

Though I lived in Illinois for many years and work with Illinois-based clients, I am originally from Madison, Mississippi, where I currently live. Since early childhood, I have possessed an inexhaustible passion for art and design, in all their many forms. After graduating high school in 2005, I decided to attend the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia, where I received a BFA in Interior Design. In 2011, after working with the Mississippi Arts Commission, Mississippi Industries for the Blind, and Office for Accessibility at the National Endowment for the Arts, I chose to continue my education through the study of Art Therapy, a field which combines my affinity for artistic and creative processes with my passions for psychology and sensory studies. In 2013, I received an MA in Art Therapy from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois, and attained my professional counseling license (LPC) in 2019. Throughout my career as a counselor, educator, and artist, I have been extremely fortunate to serve in a variety of very unique roles, often charged with independently developing and implementing a broad range of arts-based mental health and educational services to many client populations, including clients affected by low to high-acuity mental health symptoms, as well as motor, neurological, respiratory, and sensory impairments. I have also been privileged to serve clients throughout the lifespan—from ages 3 to 100—as well as clients from a richly diverse array of sociocultural backgrounds and countries of origin, including Bangladesh, China, England, Germany, Haiti, India, Israel, Mexico, Nigeria, and South Korea. Each of my educational and professional endeavors have been guided by a seemingly indelible belief that the leaders of tomorrow should be inquisitive and observant, possess diverse interests and multi-facetted skill set, and be capable of conceiving and acting upon bold, unconventional, forward-thinking solutions
