Getting to know Pilar Brown

My name is Dr. Pilar Brown, and I am a licensed clinical social worker with a Doctorate in Behavioral Health. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from California State University, Bakersfield. My approach to therapy is tailored to the needs of my clients, primarily adults who are serious about improving their overall health. My approach I commonly use cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, and motivational interviewing to guide my clients through the process of insight and change. My focus I typically work with adult clients experiencing mild to moderate depression, anxiety, stress, or those seeking life coaching. My communication style I strive to create an environment of positivity, trust, calm, peace, and humor when working with clients. My clients appreciate working with me because they don’t feel judged, and I make them feel at ease and valued. My journey to therapy I have dedicated my life and career to helping others improve their health. I enjoy listening to people and their stories and supporting them in improving their circumstances if that is what they seek. Witnessing the transformation in people’s lives when they achieve success by improving their outlook is deeply rewarding. I am driven to this work because I believe we are all connected, so helping one person can positively impact many. My goals for you I approach goal setting by identifying the goals clients want to work on, outlining specific steps, and setting deadlines by which they believe they can accomplish their objectives. While creating goals, I encourage clients to envision their potential while ensuring they are set up for success and avoid self-condemnation. My first session with you During the first session, you can expect a basic introduction; a discussion about my professional obligations regarding confidentiality and mandatory reporting; a brief assessment of the reason you are seeking treatment; and determining if we are a good fit.
