Getting to know Preeya Roe

Hi! My name is Preeya Roe, and I am an LCSW specializing in self-awareness, anxiety, depression, and trauma. I consider one's cultural identification and how it impacts our view of the world and ourselves. I would love to support you in increasing insight to help develop the how and what is needed to reduce your suffering. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from California State University, Sacramento, and my Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz. I have formal certification training as a Clinical Trauma Professional and a Clinical Anxiety Professional, with a focus on children and adolescents. When working with individuals, I tailor my approach to my clients’ needs using a mix of CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, and Attachment Theory. When working with couples, I use both Gottman and Emotionally-Focused therapeutic approaches. I’ve worked with clients of all ages and challenges and enjoy supporting people in reaching their goals and reducing their pain. I am passionate about helping those suffering from anxiety-related disorders and relational issues. I like to get to know my clients and use a hands-on, skill-based, directive approach to support deeper self-understanding. I am open to feedback and believe it is my job to adjust to my clients’ needs and communication styles. Naturally outgoing, I provide tools to address client concerns effectively. I always say I didn’t choose the field; the field chose me. Growing up in a multicultural family, I saw how values, expectations, and norms influence how we interact with the world. I’m a natural helper and have always loved learning about myself and others. I’m inspired by how freeing self-awareness and insight can be. I encourage my clients to set realistic treatment goals and understand that goals shift and change throughout the therapeutic process.
