Getting to know Rachael Saunders

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor at Finding Peace Therapy. My credentials include a Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from DePaul University, as well as a Bachelor of Education in Psychology from North Park University. I have experience providing individual and group therapeutic services to adolescents and adults with a variety of mental health concerns and symptom levels. Further, I have developed a passion for mental health through my own healing journey, which has allowed me to deeply understand, empathize, and connect with clients. As a therapist, I strive to create a safe, affirming, and open space to explore and collaborate in your therapeutic process. You will be met with acceptance, gentleness, and compassion as we establish a trusting relationship and navigate your own unique healing journey. I primarily work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and mood disorders. I celebrate and provide affirming care to all, including the heterosexual and the LBTQIA+ community. My approach is based in Person Centered Therapy and I maintain the belief that a strong therapeutic alliance characterized by empathy, trust, and safety cultivates positive change. While I do not believe in a “one size fits all” approach, I utilize a range of techniques in order to meet clients where they are and provide comprehensive care for each client’s individual needs. Additionally, I often implement Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to help clients develop effective and healthy coping skills. I am here to listen, support, challenge, and laugh with you throughout your therapeutic process. My hope is to create a space for all clients to feel seen, heard, understood, and empowered as they grow further into their authentic selves.

Working with Rachael has helped me to live my life with more integrity and has helped me cultivate hope amidst a very challenging year. I have been in some form of therapy for over a decade, and Rachael is the first provider who I feel safe enough with to let my guard down completely. They lead with warmth and empathy, but also with humor and playfulness. The space she helped me create was so special, and I'm so lucky to have worked with them.
