Rachel grew up in a family of educators and has been involved in special education advocacy and social justice since an early age. This started her love for students with complex and extra needs. Such as several of her family members with Autism, ADHD, PTSD, substance addictions, and personality disorders. She began her career as a special education music teacher at a psychiatric special-needs school and a medically complex autism/developmental disorder pre-K to 5th-grade program. Rachel loved teaching deeply, but not only did COVID fundamentally change children and families - it changed her career! Rachel earned her Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at McDaniel College, with a focus on trauma, severe mental illness, and the integration wtih developmetnal disorders. After several years working for private practice and in-patient forensic settings, she felt a calling to continue her education. Currently, Rachel is completing her Doctorate of Psychology (Psy.D). During her first two years, she earned a Master's in Clinical Psychology with a focus on neuropsychology, neurodevelopmental disorders, developmental disabilities, and learning disabilities. Her clinical rotations have included pediatric neuropsychological assessments, inpatient forensic psychiatric, and adult neuropsychology. Her current neuro focuses are on the neurobiology of autism, severe mental illness, and their integration with traumatic brain injuries. Upon her anticipated 2028 graduation, she aims to provide developmental and educational psychological assessments, parent education /support groups, and neurodynamic psychotherapy. All these life experiences have led to the creation of EBBS AND FLOWS HEALING. A place where children through adults and their parents/support system can learn about their diagnosis in the brain, heal their lived experience, and create a tailored treatment plan for their needs.
