Getting to know Rachel Besvinick

I believe that therapy is a partnership and I work in collaboration with my clients to understand how we can work together to best support them in overcoming challenges and achieving their goals. I am a person-centered, integrative therapist, drawing from a variety of evidenced-based therapies to individualize care and meet each client's unique needs. I work with clients looking to address concerns around life transitions and change, including feelings of loss and anxiety in the face of uncertainty. I support clients through periods of adjustment when vulnerability, insecurity, and worry can feel unmanageable.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am an eating disorders specialist, providing psychotherapeutic support to adolescents and adults experiencing food and body image concerns, including eating disorders—anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge-eating, ARFID, and OSFED—disordered eating, body dysmorphic disorder, as well as issues relating to self-esteem and clinical perfectionism.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My clinical background includes mindfulness-based stress reduction, CBT, ACT, DBT, CBT-E, compassion-focused therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and expressive arts therapy. Grounded in compassion and empathy, I work with clients to identify, understand, and challenge the thoughts and behaviors that get in the way of them experiencing fulfillment and enjoying life.

I had never spoken to a therapist before and didn't know where to begin... Rachel's supportive, down-to-earth approach made therapy feel approachable and unintimidating. Looking forward to future sessions!
After struggling with body image dissatisfaction and disordered eating for years, I came Rachel to feeling hopeless and exhausted. Rachel has been patient and supportive, recognizing my progress even when I don't see it. She has provided me with a space where I feel safe enough to express difficult emotions and discuss painful experiences. Working with Rachel has helped me make positive steps to reduce disordered eating and exercise behaviors that I've relied on for years.
It was great—Rachel is a very attentive listener and provided helpful feedback. I have already booked every Thursday to see her for the foreseeable future.
She's the perfect match for my teen!
I can't recommend Rachel enough! She has been a game-changer in my journey with body image struggles. From the first day, she made me feel comfortable, understood, and safe. She’s helped me challenge my negative thought patterns and rebuild a healthier relationship with food and my body. What I love most is how she combines deep understanding with real-world strategies that actually work. I’m so grateful for her help!
Working with Rachel was honestly such a relief. I was struggling with perfectionism, and it was really starting to take a toll on me. From day one, Rachel made me feel at ease, and she really took the time to understand what was going on. She helped me pinpoint why I was stuck in these perfectionist patterns and gave me simple but effective strategies to manage it, like mindfulness and some cognitive-behavioral tricks. What I loved most was how she never pushed me too hard or too fast—everything felt like a natural process. Thanks to her, I’m way better at cutting myself some slack and focusing on progress instead of being perfect.
