Getting to know Rachel Boyer

As a marriage and family therapist with a Master's in Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri, Kansas City, my expertise lies in assisting individuals and couples in developing healthy relationships-first with themselves, then with others. Many symptoms stem from a lack of self-love, including depression, anxiety, emotional instability, relationship problems, lack of life meaning, social anxiety, discontentment, fear of the future, inability to forgive oneself, judgmentalism, various addictive habits, and similar issues. Self-judgment and self-defeating beliefs disrupt one's natural life flow, and a negative experience of life can become soul-crushing. I create a safe, non-judgmental environment for individuals and couples to explore their true feelings and process what lies within, guiding them toward acceptance and self-compassion. This process is unique for everyone, and I use a person-centered approach so that you determine your treatment goals. I can help increase empathy, untangle difficult relationship problems, improve parent-child relationships, deepen intimate connections, and foster a sense of well-being that is internal-not dependent on people, status, finances, situations, or life challenges. My own journey of transformation and spiritual awakening, alongside my clinical and professional training, qualifies me to do this work. I am down to earth, easy to connect with, and bring many years of experience both personally and as a therapist in this field. It is my passion and joy to assist others on their journey toward real freedom, satisfying relationships, and meaningful purpose in life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In the beginning, I will assess why you are coming to therapy and collaborate on a course of treatment. We will create a safe and cooperative relationship. I will explain how therapy works, give a general timeline for treatment and answer any questions. There is no cookie-cutter approach to treatment, my agenda is your agenda. As we work I will never push you toward anything you are uncomfortable with without your permission. We work collaboratively as this is a journey of self-discovery and self-empowerment. Sometimes there will be difficult "truths" to face along the way. Exploring alternative life narratives and creating positive meaning for your life, your history and your future can empower you to create the life you want to live.
