“I had never attended therapy before, but I realized it was time to seek support when I began to feel overwhelmed. Choosing to start therapy was one of the best decisions I’ve made. I had heard that finding the right therapist can take time, but to my surprise, Rachel was an excellent fit from the start. Although I was extremely nervous during my first few sessions, she was warm, welcoming, and easy to talk to. Her approach made it easier to discuss difficult situations, and she consistently provided reassurance along with practical tools that empowered me to problem-solve independently. She has truly helped me in many ways beyond what I initially sought therapy for. I highly recommend her.”

Getting to know Rachel Bruce

As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I strive to provide a safe and compassionate space for adolescents, teens, and adults who are ready to explore their stories and find healing. I support clients navigating trauma, grief, relationship challenges, and complex family dynamics, offering a grounded, collaborative approach that meets you where you are. I specialize in supporting adolescents, teens, and adults navigating trauma, grief, relationship challenges, and complex family dynamics. I draw from a variety of counseling theories—including CBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, Positive Psychology, ACT, and a humanistic approach—to tailor therapy to each client’s unique needs. I strive to be inviting, authentic, and non-judgmental. I believe in helping you build insight, strengthen resilience, and reconnect with your sense of balance and possibility. Therapy is a partnership, and I’m here to walk alongside you as you grow, heal, and discover what feels meaningful in your life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I bring nearly eight years of experience counseling in both school settings and private practice. My background allows me to support clients across different life stages while understanding the academic, emotional, social, and behavioral challenges that often overlap with daily life. Working in schools has strengthened my skills in behavior management, emotional regulation, and collaboration with families, while private practice allows me to provide individualized, in-depth therapeutic care. My approach to therapy is integrative and client-centered. I draw from a variety of evidence-based and relational approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), humanistic therapy, Gestalt techniques, positive psychology, and motivational interviewing. This flexibility allows me to tailor therapy to your unique needs, strengths, and goals rather than using a one-size-fits-all model. I believe therapy works best when it feels collaborative, supportive, and practical. Together, we may focus on increasing self-awareness, building coping strategies, improving behavior patterns, and strengthening confidence and resilience. I aim to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered to make meaningful changes. Whether you are seeking help with specific challenges or looking to better understand yourself, my goal is to meet you where you are and support your growth at a pace that feels right for you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A therapy session with me is structured to be supportive, collaborative, and focused on your goals. At the beginning of our first session, I take time to review confidentiality, including its limits, and confirm your physical location for the session. This helps ensure your safety and allows us to establish a clear understanding of how therapy works. We then begin with a check-in, which includes an informal assessment of how you are doing emotionally and whether there are any current safety concerns. This is done in a conversational and respectful way, not as an interrogation. If no immediate risks are present, we move into working on the goals outlined in your treatment plan. Sessions are guided by what feels most important to you, whether that involves managing stress or anxiety, improving behavior patterns, navigating relationships, or processing life challenges. I aim to balance open conversation with practical tools, reflection, and skill-building so sessions feel both meaningful and useful. During the initial session—or the second session if time is limited—we work together to create a treatment plan. This plan helps clarify the areas you would like to focus on most and gives us a shared direction for therapy. Goals are flexible and can be adjusted as your needs change. Throughout our work together, I strive to create a space that feels safe, collaborative, and nonjudgmental. Therapy moves at your pace, and you are always an active participant in shaping the focus of each session.

Mrs. Bruce demonstrates reliability, active listening skills, and an ability to create a space where I feel seen and heard. She encourages me to explore different viewpoints and provides multiple resource options tailored to my needs.
Rachel has been a very great therapist, I was very nervous because I've never had a therapist before but she was very welcoming from the start and she has been able to help me through many of my issues whether that be something major or minor.
Rachel is truly great at what she does and she always knows what to say to help me understand certain situations and problems. Her ability to truly care for me and actually listen to what I have to say is above and beyond, and even when it’s through message the same level of care is seen.
