Rachel Diskin is an experiencied Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She offers in-person and telehealth services at HOPE Therapy Group San Diego in central San Diego, CA (92117). Here's more from Rachel: Hello, I’m Rachel and I am a LCSW. Originally from the midwest, I have been working in the mental health field since 2010. “You are not stuck where you are unless you decide to be”. I related to this quote both physically and mentally and in 2015, I moved to sunny San Diego to continue my clinical career. From there, I realized no matter where you physically are, you have to mentally work through obstacles. You learn what you are capable of and begin to recognize it’s okay to ask for help. With this, I have been able to bring the same passion of supporting individuals with their own unique experiences who may be feeling “stuck” and want change. Now I just get to do it in warmer weather!

What should a new client know about working with you?

I love working with adults of all ages who have experienced trauma, anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, life stressors and/or difficulties socially. I have developed a budding passion for working with the military population and the issues that are unique to this special community, including service trauma. I have found great success utilizing ACT, CBT, TF-CBT, Mindfulness practices, DBT interventions and SFBT. I recognize that depression, anxiety, and negative self-beliefs can feel like a roadblock to living the life you want. I believe the first step, is to see what has worked for you in the past or what hasn’t. I believe making the connection from past experiences to current, can identify patterns to break through that connection and work through acceptance and change. To work through past trauma, I will work with you to create a safe space and work at a speed that is the best for you. Through self-discovery and using the right tools, I can help you conquer that block and help you empower yourself to achieve success in getting what you want out of life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

You have made the first step, having the strength and courage to reach out. I am excited to walk beside you on your journey to take care of yourself and practice self-compassion. My focus is in providing a safe, non-judgmental space, meeting you where you are and working toward your personal goals. Whether self-esteem, relationship issues, loneliness, phase of life transitions, or difficult past experiences, I utilize evidence-based practices and practice with a client-centered and strengths-based approach. I view therapy as collaborative work and see my role as more of a guide and support while respecting that you are the expert in your own life.
