Relationships are at the center of almost everything that brings people into therapy. Whether you're navigating conflict with a partner, recovering from a breakup, trying to reconnect with a family member, or working through patterns that keep showing up across your relationships, that's the work I do best. Hi, I'm Dr. Rachel Dunn and I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with a speciality doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy (DMFT) and fifteen of experience working with individuals, couples, and families on exactly these kinds of challenges. My clients come to me when they're stuck, hurting, or simply ready to do something different. They're often smart, self-aware people who can see the problem clearly but can't quite figure out how to change it. My approach is warm and direct. I'll listen carefully, but I'll also push you a little. I draw from evidence-based frameworks including Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and the Gottman Method, which means the tools we use are grounded in research, not guesswork. I offer both therapy and coaching. Therapy is available to clients located in Florida and is used for treatment of a diagnosed or diagnosable mental health condition. Coaching has no geographic restrictions and is a strong fit for people who are goal-focused, want structured support, and aren't seeking a clinical diagnosis. If you're unsure which is the better fit, we can sort that out together in our first conversation. If you're ready to get started, I'd love to connect.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Most people who find me are dealing with something relational. A relationship that's hurting, a pattern they can't seem to break, a loss they're still carrying. Whether you're navigating conflict with a partner, recovering from infidelity, healing after a breakup, or trying to figure out why you keep ending up in the same dynamic, this is the work I know best. Therapy with me is conversational and purposeful. We're not just processing feelings, we're working toward something. Most sessions end with something concrete to take away, whether that's a new perspective, a skill to practice, or something specific to try before we meet again. I'm collaborative, and your feedback genuinely shapes how we work together. If something isn't clicking, I want to know. I'll also be honest with you when I think something's worth naming, and I'll ask questions that push you to think a little differently. Clients tend to find that useful, even when it's uncomfortable. For couples, I use the Gottman Method, one of the most research-supported frameworks for relationship work. For individuals, I draw on Solution-Focused and Narrative approaches depending on what fits your goals and your story. I hold a doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy and have spent over a decade doing this work. All sessions are via telehealth. For most of my clients, that actually makes it easier to show up consistently, from your home, your lunch break, wherever you have a quiet moment and a good connection.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Before we even get started, I offer a complimentary 15-minute consultation. It's a low-stakes way to ask questions, get a feel for how I work, and make sure we're a good fit before committing to anything. From there, if we decide to move forward, the first full session is about you. I want to hear your story, understand what brought you in, and get a real sense of your history, your relationships, and what's been getting in the way. We're not rushing to solutions in session one. I'm learning who you are and what makes your situation unique. From there, we build a roadmap together. I don't hand you a predetermined treatment plan. The goals we work toward come from your priorities, shaped by my clinical lens, and tailored to your needs. Some clients know exactly what they want to change; others need a little more time to get clear on that. Either way, I welcome the opportunity to help guide you towards achieving your goals. For individuals, sessions typically involve exploring patterns, developing insight, and building concrete skills. I ask a lot of questions, and they're designed to move you somewhere, not just unpack the past. For couples, the first session or two usually involve meeting together, and I may also meet with each partner individually to get a fuller picture. From there, we work as a unit. We focus on communication patterns, repair skills, addressing complex family dynamics, and rebuilding trust and connection in structured, practical ways. Homework is a regular part of the process. Changes happen between sessions, not just during them, so I'll often send you away with something to practice, reflect on, or try. Progress tends to accelerate when the work doesn't stop when the session ends. If you're outside Florida or prefer a goal-focused, forward-looking approach over traditional therapy, coaching follows the same structure and is available to anyone, anywhere.
