Psychotherapist

My work is informed by attachment theory and neuroscience, exploring how past hurts affect the way your brain functions today. By identifying the root causes of the patterns you feel “stuck” in, we are able to work together to untangle hurtful beliefs about yourself. Talk therapy modalities we may use include CBT, psychoeducation, feminist therapy, and holistic coaching, depending on your unique needs and preferences. I understand that not every client will benefit from solely talk therapy. For many, past trauma becomes "stuck" in part of the brain and contributes to PTSD, depression, and low self-esteem. For clients who feel "stuck" in their trauma, attempting to cognitively make sense of it can feel impossible. Often, trauma survivors struggle to recall exact details and the order of events due to our brain's natural survival responses during crisis. EMDR does not require clients to verbally share details of traumatic memories. Instead, it helps your brain engage its natural healing process, so that your brain can "recode" the memories without the intense emotional charge and negative self-beliefs associated with them. I know making the choice of who you feel most comfortable sitting down and discussing your goals and vulnerabilities with is an important and sometimes overwhelming decision. My goal in the therapy room is to always help you feel as supported and heard as possible. If you feel I may be a good fit, I would be honored to work with you on your journey. I hold a Master's in Social Work from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor's degree from Stetson University.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Typically, I begin working with clients by conducting a thorough intake together during our first session. Over our first few sessions, I'll ask about your goals for counseling and we will co-create a treatment plan together to meet these goals.
