Hi there, I'm Rachel! My name is Rachel Gordon I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2017 and hold a Master’s in Counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater I also earned my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Additionally, I hold my Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor license and have been working with addictions professionally since 2014 My approach I am eclectic, using techniques from Dialectical and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy I am trained in Seeking Safety, Autism Assessment, and have completed two stages of Brainspotting training I vary my approach depending on each client and their unique needs I enjoy using somatic and sensory interventions, as appropriate My focus I have experience working with a broad population ranging in age from 6 to 70 I currently see most middle and high schoolers, having worked inside schools for the past 7 years I began working with adults with addiction and trauma prior to working with children and continue to have a large number of these clients on my caseload I work with PTSD from childhood and adult trauma, addictions, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, autism, ADHD, and bullying I have worked with quite a few LGBTQ+ clients, supporting them through coming out and some through gender-affirming care My communication style My philosophy is that my client is the expert in their own life I love learning each client's unique "language" and helping guide them to their ideal of a better life I am passionate about helping and try to bring my energy to create a comfortable and supportive therapy environment Whenever possible, I want the session to feel like a helpful conversation rather than an appointment That being said, I do try to leave everyone with a goal to work on between sessions My journey to mental healthcare I came from a family with quite a few different mental health disorders, so I was used to people who think differently.
