Getting to know Rachel Kozina

What should a new client know about working with you?

Having 3 daughters, all of which have grown up here in the North Shore & have attended the Winnetka Public Schools and New Trier High School, I have a good understanding on how to navigate the different social challenges that come with living in the North Shore area. My experiences are broad and include many things like being a Job Coach, Adjunct Instructor, and School Counselor in both public and private schools. I like to think that I took a meandering path that always included working in the helping profession which I feel most comfortable. I continue to be inspired by everyone I meet with along the way. I work hard to offer self-healing opportunities suited to your unique style whether it’s journaling, crafting, mindfulness exercises, or simply talking. I draw from aspects of CBT, play therapy, person-centered therapy and conflict mediation. I rely heavily on my hands-on experience in the classroom and life experiences.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I come from a family of educators, so I am keenly aware of the constraints placed on them on a daily basis. I will cater my counseling sessions with your school-aged child around practical and realistic solutions and tips so that teachers can integrate these in the classroom with ease. I am a strong believer that everyone has what it takes to be successful.
