Psychotherapist
1811 W North Ave, Ste 402, Chicago, IL
Rachel McGinely is a pre-licensed provider working under the supervision of a licensed practitioner. Growing up, I was surrounded by the belief that health is holistic. The idea is that our well-being involves not only the body, but also our emotional, relational, and mental experiences. This understanding sparked my curiosity about mental wellness. I value genuine human connection and believe there is immeasurable importance in the comfort and support it can provide. I became a therapist because I am a firsthand witness to the profound impact therapy can have on one’s overall wellbeing, and take pride in creating a space for this comfort and connection to take shape. I strive to create a grounded space where we can sit with even the most vulnerable moments, exploring them with curiosity and care, so you can feel empowered to turn our words into meaningful action and impact.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work primarily with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, grief & loss, identity exploration, relationship & family dynamics, self-esteem, and life transitions. I value inclusivity by basing all aspects of my work around both LGBTQIA+ affirming care and trauma-informed care. We are complex individuals, which is why I emphasize exploring the full range of emotions and experiences that shape who you are, how you relate to others, and how you grow.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I approach each individual with curiosity, balance, and inclusivity. In a world that may feel overwhelming and confusing, it is important to find a therapeutic space that allows you to embrace yourself entirely. I believe the best client-therapist relationships are rooted in trust and compassion. Throughout our work together, we will bring your authentic self, including your humor, interests, and personality, into the space. Together, we will create individualized goals and do the work needed to achieve them, through mindful intention setting that feels authentic to you. I will work with you to navigate the impact of your lived experiences while placing emphasis on emotional regulation and nervous system support. I do this through mindfulness, presence, and intentional practice.
