Psychotherapist
NH
Hi there, I'm Rachel! Are you struggling with "what if" thoughts and worst-case scenarios? Do you wish you could get out of your head and focus on the things that are important to you? My patients often start therapy feeling that their anxious thoughts are taking control of their lives, and after therapy, feel empowered to make decisions that reflect who they are and what they want. My approach In therapy, I use an eclectic approach of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). These approaches teach coping skills, experiential learning, and inhibitory learning. Which skills I teach are unique based on your therapeutic goals. My focus My patients often struggle with perfectionism, anxiety, depression, getting stuck on specific thoughts, or nervous habits like skin or hair pulling/picking. If you are feeling unfulfilled, making choices based on fears and not your values, I can help you by building your coping skills, challenging your fears, and increasing your self-confidence. My communication style For you to get the most out of our time together, I find honest and clear communication to be key. I am not here to judge you or your choices, but to help you identify things that you believe are problematic and work to change those things. I welcome feedback and want to know what is and isn't working for you. My journey to mental healthcare As a teenager, I took a psychology class in high school that sparked my interest in research on mental health diagnosis and treatment. Having family members with OCD and anxiety disorders also played a part in my curiosity and desire to help with providing evidence-based care. My goals for you You are the expert on yourself, and I am the mental health expert. I see therapy as a collaborative approach of you help me to understand what obstacles in your life are impeding your wellbeing.
