Psychotherapist
NJ
Rachel Phelps is a “Licensed Professional Counselor" and their license number is 37PC01132300. I am licensed in Pennsylvania with 7 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, relationship issues, family conflicts, & trauma and abuse. I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process. My approach I focus heavily on the use of CBT to look at negative thinking patterns and how they influence emotions and actions. I also focus on solution-focused therapy to work on creating goals to help address some of the client's overall concerns. My focus I love working with clients who have a motivation to change, a willingness to improve, or work on some aspect within themselves. In our first session together, we will work on just a general rapport-building session where I'm getting to know you a little bit more and some of the bigger picture, including background information and what has you seeking therapy. My communication style I prioritize clear, open communication to create a supportive, non-judgmental environment. I practice active listening and will give you opportunities to reflect on your experiences with you as an empathetic partner. If we’re working through something challenging, you can expect me to be calm and patient. My journey to mental healthcare My therapy journey began with a deep curiosity about human resilience and the desire to help others find strength through life’s hardest challenges. During my graduate training, I had the opportunity to work with various special populations. This experience showed me the powerful role therapy can play in recovery and solidified my commitment to supporting others through their healing journeys.
