Rachel Remsen, LMHC

Psychotherapist
HI
Aloha, my name is Rachel Remsen. I hold a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lenoir-Rhyne University. I am a licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Hawaii and a nationally board-certified counselor. My approach to therapy is creating a safe place for individuals to process and work through the highs, lows, and everyday stress of life. My approach My approach to therapy is built on a foundation of Person-Centered core concepts-empathy, unconditional positive regard, and congruence. I believe in meeting clients where they are and creating a space where they feel comfortable. While my foundation is based on a Person-Centered approach, I consider myself eclectic, tailoring therapy depending on what my client brings to our sessions. I draw from approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused, Strength-Based, Motivational Interviewing, Humanistic, Acceptance and Commitment, and many more. I believe clients are the experts of their own lives, and I assist by walking beside them, in front of them, or behind them on this journey. My focus My counseling experience spans clients aged 5 to 75 years old. I have worked with children (ages 5–18) through intensive in-home therapy and school-based mental health services. In this work, I provided individual counseling, skills training, crisis management, parent training, and family therapy. Additionally, I have specialized experience counseling individuals participating in medication-assisted treatment such as Methadone, Suboxone, and Antabuse. In this setting, I conducted intake assessments, group therapy, individual counseling, crisis management, and couples therapy sessions.
