Throughout my career, my focus has been helping individuals realize and complete their personal goals. My approach I am definitely a therapist who is non-judgmental. I am easy to talk to. I listen and reflect back. I also ask questions and offer interpretations. I respect that you are the expert in your own life and will offer support as needed. I use additional approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, reality therapy, person-centered therapy, and transactional analysis. I include assignments and identify resources online and in the community as needed. My focus My client focus is typically individual sessions with adults, as well as family sessions. My experience includes working with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, substance abuse, and family issues. My communication style It is important to establish a collaborative therapeutic relationship with each individual, developing early on a clear understanding of various cultural dynamics and the consumer’s worldview. It is incumbent on me to provide a safe space and help the consumer develop trust in the process. I show up on time, keep my word, listen attentively, and provide appropriate feedback. In addition, as a therapist, it is incumbent on me to stay updated regarding new therapeutic approaches and helping tools. I am constantly attending trainings and communicating with my colleagues, which I view as part of a best practice model.
