Psychotherapist
3130 W Maple Loop Dr, Lehi, UT
Rachel is a dedicated therapist (CMHC) who values each client's unique experiences, perspectives and readiness for change. She believes in looking at the whole person: mental health, relationships, physical well-being, values, and life experiences. Prior to becoming a therapist, she earned a Master's degree in Movement & Leisure Science with an emphasis in Recreational Leadership. That foundation shapes her practice of inviting clients to incorporate meaningful movement, play, and connection with nature into their daily lives, including offering walk-and-talk therapy sessions outdoors. Her experience includes residential and outpatient therapeutic settings, as well as experiential leadership in ropes courses, equine-assisted therapy, and group backpacking trips. Outside of sessions, she enjoys running, hiking with her dog, or a movie marathon with her husband.

Getting to know Rachel Schmidt

What should a new client know about working with you?

Rachel enjoys working with teens and adults navigating challenges such as body image concerns, OCD, anxiety, depression, and faith transitions. She highly values curiosity, collaboration, and helping clients feel genuinely understood throughout the therapeutic process. Her approach balances insight, practical tools, and self-compassion. Rachel believes therapy does not require clients to "have it all figured out" before showing up.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Rachel's therapy process integrates Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Lifespan Integration as needed for trauma processing. Together with clients, she works to identify patterns that may be keeping them stuck while building goals that support meaningful behavioral and emotional change. While therapy can sometimes involve stepping into discomfort, Rachel aims to create a space where clients feel supported, connected to their values, and empowered to better understand themselves in the process.
