Getting to know Rachel Shapiro

I aim to create a safe, collaborative, and compassionate therapy environment to empower clients, help them achieve their goals, and assist them in finding a more balanced and positive self-concept in order to gain relief from symptoms and find inner peace. I have experience working with young adults and adults in the treatment of mood disorders, anxiety disorders, life transition issues, self-esteem issues, eating disorders, trauma, adult children and parent relationship issues, emotion regulation issues, and stress management. I hold a Master's degree in Counseling from Northwestern University, which has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to support my clients effectively.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I use an evidence-based and integrative framework, especially utilizing psychodynamic, internal family systems therapy, and cognitive behavioral techniques, to support therapeutic growth. I believes that knowing oneself, or having a positive self-concept, is the foundation for a healthy and balanced life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I works with individuals who do not fit in, do not want to fit in, or have been harmed by trying to fit into societal, social, or familial ‘norms’ or expectations; which often leaves them feeling less than enough. I help clients find their truth, their most authentic selves, and the life that fits them. I often helps individuals with dysfunctional family dynamics, anxiety, low self-esteem and negative self-talk, perfectionism, depression, alternative viewpoints, and neurodivergence. If you want to dig deeper to understand yourself, the world, and your place in it, I am here for you! We'll start with a consultation session to determine if it feels like a good fit. From there, we will identify a time and day that works weekly.
