Rachel Spekman, LICSW

Psychotherapist
MA
Are you an adult (20+) who is eager to work on: Identity challenges (i.e., coming out, navigating career change, etc.) Relationship challenges (with friends, partner, family, etc.) Grief Divorce Perfectionism Fertility & Family Planning If so, I'd love to work with you. I'm Rachel Spekman, and I'm not your average therapist. I spent the first twenty years of my career elsewhere: as a teacher, non-profit leader, and startup consultant. During the pandemic, when many of us were pushed to think deeply about purpose and meaning, I decided I wanted a major lifestyle change. Working with a therapist and career coach, I made a major (and scary!) career change and went back to social work school full time at Simmons University, where I earned my Master's in Social Work. It felt truly like a calling, and I'm glad I heeded it! Fast-forward five years, and I'm doing work I love-supporting clients to think deeply about their values, goals, and what might be holding them back from making changes.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I'd love to work with you on identity issues, family dynamics, grief, infertility and women's health, and/or career. A bit about my approach to therapy I have a warm, supportive, and eclectic approach to my therapeutic work with clients. I utilize cognitive-based-therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), among many other dynamics.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

You can walk away from our work together expecting to feel energized, challenged, hopefully having laughed once or twice, and feeling like growing and healing is hard work, but that you have strategies, evidence, and support on your side.
