Getting to know Rachel Tombaugh

Sick of the miserable cycle of OCD? Tired of being inundated by painful reminders of the past? Sick of panic and anxiety dictating your every move? Feel like your relationships exist for the benefit of everyone but you? Need help with boundaries and figuring out how to live YOUR best life? If any of these problems (or all of them) sound like you, I just might be the therapist for you. I have devoted my professional life to helping others heal and reclaim their true potential, working as a psychotherapist since 2011. I earned my Master's in Professional Counseling from Ottawa University and my Bachelor's from Arizona State University. My therapeutic approach utilizes a unique combination of compassion, warmth, humor, and clinical excellence. I believe that therapy should feel hopeful and connected yet maintain focus on clinical sophistication and excellence. I will bring innovation to your therapy, and I am passionate about working with people who have suffered from the traps of anxiety and trauma. I am licensed in both Arizona and New Mexico and offer therapy in person at my beautiful and nurturing Scottsdale office, virtually in Arizona, and via telehealth in New Mexico. When not working with my clients, I spend time outdoors with my family, my rescue horse (?Gabriel?), several rescue pets, and a family of screech owls who live at my home in north Phoenix.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Specializing in OCD, anxiety disorders, trauma and PTSD, and panic disorder, I have the skills, training, and expertise to guide you towards healing and meeting your goals. Offering a clinical repertoire that creates change and ensures meaningful results, I have advanced training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (ICBT) for the treatment of OCD and anxiety, and extensive training in trauma-focused modalities including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Each of these treatment approaches benefits from substantial evidence that it is effective, efficient, and creates positive change that can be trusted.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Your therapy experience at Epiphany Center starts with building a warm, collaborative and trusting rapport that is centered on your needs, goals, and hopes for change. A detailed and thorough assessment ensures that we are using the best and most targeted approach to help you find relief and begin living your life with joy and confidence. You can expect to feel cared for, supported, encouraged, and valued and that you will be heard throughout our work together. Assessment measures and symptom questionnaires will help us truly understand your concerns and also to make sure your needs are being met and your expectations exceeded. Therapy should feel empowering, challenging, caring, and hopeful, and should also be rooted in real results that you can see and experience in your life.
