Are you your own worst critic? Maybe you spend a lot of time beating yourself up, asking questions like “What’s wrong with me?” I know because I’ve worked with many people facing similar struggles, and as a veteran, I’ve experienced it myself. Such negative thoughts are common when you’ve never learned how to combat them. Unfortunately, they contribute to issues like depression and anxiety and can even worsen symptoms from trauma. The good news is that you can change your patterns of thinking. One of my favorite quotes from Marcus Aurelius is, “The happiness of your life depends on the quality of your thoughts.” I hold a Master’s in Social Work from The University of Texas at Arlington and work with people who suffer from chronic mood issues, anxiety, and those healing from trauma related to military service, harmful religious experiences, past abuse or assault, and more.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I have a worked in several capacities. I have worked with CPS, inpatient settings, outpatient clinics, and am the Owner of Blue Cat Counseling LLC. If I don't have the expertise to help you, I will find you someone who does. That is my guarantee to you all.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I specialize in rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) which helps you develop healthier thoughts and beliefs about yourself and the world around you. I like to create a relaxed, welcoming environment for my clients. We might end up laughing one minute and processing a difficult emotion the next. When it’s all said and done you may find you actually like yourself more than you thought, and that shift can change your life.
