Life is full of many twists and turns as we progress forward on our journey. At times, it doesn’t always feel like a new door is opening, but rather like hurdling or tripping over blockades. My passion is to help others crack a new door open, gently peeking out to see what’s on the other side. We will explore the process together in a safe venue and at your own pace to make lifelong change and growth. After graduating with a Bachelor’s in Applied Life Studies/Health Education, I earned my Master of Social Work from the University of Illinois in 2003. I have worked in agency settings, home health, university support for students, chemical dependency centers, and my own practice. While on the journey of therapy, I help families with parental coaching for children with typical and atypical development, medical issues, developmental concerns, and sensory integration disorder. I empower families to manage behavior concerns at home. I have expertise in adults with chronic illness/genetic conditions and the anxiety/depression cycle associated with pain and discomfort. I also see individuals working on self-improvement around issues of anxiety, depression, work/life balance, life cycle changes, family of origin issues, evolving family life, and self-care. I use an eclectic approach to therapy utilizing psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and family systems among other modalities.
