What should a new client know about working with you?

When working with me, you can expect a supportive, nonjudgmental, and collaborative environment where your experiences, concerns, and goals are valued. I believe that healing begins with trust, and I strive to create a safe space where you can feel comfortable being your authentic self. As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Supervisor (LCPC-S) with over 15 years of experience, I take a culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approach to therapy. I understand that each person's journey is unique, so I tailor treatment to meet your individual needs, challenges, and aspirations. My goal is not only to help you manage symptoms but also to help you gain insight, build resilience, and create meaningful, lasting change. I utilize evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness practices, and person-centered therapy. Together, we will explore patterns that may be impacting your well-being, develop practical coping strategies, and build on your existing strengths. I have extensive experience working with adolescents, adults, and families facing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, relationship challenges, substance use concerns, and stress related to systemic and societal barriers. My work is grounded in compassion, accountability, empowerment, and the belief that every person deserves the opportunity to heal and thrive. Whether you are seeking support during a difficult time, working through past experiences, or striving for personal growth, I am committed to helping you feel heard, supported, and equipped with the tools needed to move forward with confidence and purpose.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach to therapy is centered on meeting clients where they are in their journey. I recognize that each individual comes to therapy with unique experiences, strengths, challenges, and goals. During our first session, we will discuss your concerns, personal history, and what you hope to achieve through therapy. Together, we will identify goals and develop a plan that supports your growth and healing. In ongoing sessions, I utilize a combination of Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and trauma-informed care to help clients better understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I work collaboratively with clients to identify barriers, build on existing strengths, develop healthy coping strategies, and create practical solutions to life's challenges. I also recognize the impact that systemic racism, discrimination, historical trauma, and social inequities can have on mental health and overall well-being. When relevant, we will explore how these experiences may affect your emotional health, relationships, sense of identity, and daily functioning. My goal is to provide a culturally responsive space where clients feel seen, heard, and validated while developing tools to navigate both personal and systemic challenges. Sessions typically include a check-in on current concerns, exploration of thoughts and feelings related to important life events or stressors, skill-building, and discussion of progress toward treatment goals. I also provide psychoeducation and evidence-based tools that clients can apply outside of therapy to support long-term success. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel empowered to heal, grow, and thrive. Whether you are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, life transitions, or the effects of systemic barriers, I am committed to helping you build resilience, increase self-awareness, and create meaningful and lasting change.
