“Everytime I leave a meeting with her, I say to myself, "I love her!" I've tried 6 or 7 therapists and she is the first one to make me feel really understood. I am working through everything I need with a receptive sounding board of a person who helps me figure what I want out of my situation and how I want to get there. ”

Getting to know Raquel Olguin

Hello! I am looking forward to beginning therapy with you. Together, we can work toward helping you lead a happier and healthier life. You are the expert of your own life. I will listen to you and work with you toward your goals. My background has primarily been in adoption. I have worked extensively with adoptive parents and children and have also worked with foster parents and children in foster care. I interned at a reentry program for one year, working with men reentering society after many years in prison, as well as their families and partners. Through my work in adoption and reentry, I learned that everyone faces individual challenges and sometimes needs help to heal and grow. Education I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with my Bachelor’s degree in 2013. A year later, I attended the University of Houston, where I earned my Master of Social Work in 2016. While at UT, I interned at a pregnancy resource center, followed by an internship at an adoption agency in fall 2013, where I was eventually hired. During my time there, I learned about the unique issues in the adoption world, including LGBTQ adoptive families. My counseling focus: - Adoption and Foster Care Issues - Adoptees - Foster Care Youth - Birth Parents - Adoptive Parents - Foster Parents - Incarcerated and Formerly Incarcerated Individuals - Family and Loved Ones of Incarcerated Individuals - Adjustment Issues - Anxiety - Depression - Family Issues My Approach I use therapeutic modalities such as client-centered, holistic, cognitive behavioral, and solution-focused therapy. I strongly believe you already have what it takes to heal. I will serve as your guide, helping you learn to use the tools you possess. I look forward to meeting you soon!

Raquel is awesome. Had my first visit with her and I feel hopeful. She listened to me and was knowledgeable about what I am going through and was able to relate to some of those things. Glad I found someone that I'm comfortable with. Can't wait to see how she can help me more in the future.
