Getting to know Raquel Olguin
Hello!
I am looking forward to beginning therapy with you. Together, we can work toward helping you lead a happier and healthier life. You are the expert of your own life. I will listen to you and work with you toward your goals.
My background has primarily been in adoption. I have worked extensively with adoptive parents and children and have also worked with foster parents and children in foster care. I interned at a reentry program for one year, working with men reentering society after many years in prison, as well as their families and partners. Through my work in adoption and reentry, I learned that everyone faces individual challenges and sometimes needs help to heal and grow.
Education
I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with my Bachelor’s degree in 2013. A year later, I attended the University of Houston, where I earned my Master of Social Work in 2016.
While at UT, I interned at a pregnancy resource center, followed by an internship at an adoption agency in fall 2013, where I was eventually hired. During my time there, I learned about the unique issues in the adoption world, including LGBTQ adoptive families.
