Psychotherapist

Hi there, I'm Rebecca! My favorite quotes is, "Knowing yourself is the beginning of all Wisdom" by Aristotle and "The Purpose of Psychotherapy is to set people Free" by Rollo May, these quotes are certainly true when choosing psychotherapy. I understand that finding the right therapist is an individual and unique decision that begins by looking at your own needs and preferences. Challenges are a normal part of living and overcoming these challenges means we sometimes need to take a path of looking within and choose personal growth. I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and Behavior Analyst. I earned a BA degree in Psychology with a minor in Communication, an MA degree in Behavior Analysis, and a second MA degree in Marriage & Family Therapy. I am an EMDR Therapist and Certified Havening Techniques Practitioner. My approach My approach as a Therapist is evidence-based therapies, along with the mindset that we all have within us the answers to our problems when we are able to balance our emotional reactivity. I meet each client with the knowledge that the problem is the answer. A mindful and down-to-earth way that recognizes and supports each individual's resiliency and confidence in taking on life's bumps and coming out stronger and capable. My focus As a Therapist, I have worked in the area of Trauma and PTSD. Trauma occurs as a response to many events including prolonged stress, a physical injury, or as a emotional response to a deeply disturbing experience. There are various degrees of trauma which include acute, chronic, and complex. Symptoms of trauma include denial or disbelief, confusion, anger, self-blame, withdrawal, feeling disconnected or numb. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) occurs when recovery from a distressing experience is more difficult to overcome than usual and when symptoms may become repetitive and debilitating.
