Rebecca Ebben, LCPC, ATR-BC

Psychotherapist
2650 W Montrose Ave, Ste 108, Chicago, IL
I am passionate about providing individualized support and care to those existing outside of the boxes into which society expects us to fit and conform. I practice non-judgmental and compassionate talk therapy in which I respect you as the ultimate expert and authority on your own life. In addition, I utilize art therapy as an alternative method of processing thoughts, feelings and emotions, as well as teaching coping skills to manage life’s stressors. If you have been to therapists before and found that talking alone hasn’t been helpful, art therapy can be a useful approach for getting deeper into feelings and building insight using a different part of your brain. Throughout my career I have worked in substance use treatment, community mental health, and inpatient settings. I have extensive experience using art therapy to treat anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, and PTSD. I also have training in treatments for OCD including ERP. If you too exist outside of the binaries we're supposed to live within, and are interested in using less traditional methods to explore feelings, heal from past trauma, and learn to manage anxiety, please feel free to reach out to me. I am happy to get to know you and talk more about a customized care plan tailored to your specific situation and needs.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I utilize both talk and art therapy; not all of my clients are open to art therapy, so I only use this modality when the client is open to it and when I believe it could be helpful. My art therapy directives and approach are tailored to the individual's specific situation and needs.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

An intake with Rebecca consists of structured intake questions and collaborative creation of a treatment plan. Sessions after the intake are generally client led. Rebecca often brings in art therapy directives relevant to her clients' presenting problems and plans options for art therapy before each session. Art therapy can be calming and soothing art activities that are worked on together while talking, as well as guided art directives that are meant to explore a specific concept or teach a coping skill.
