“Rebecca is truly an exceptional couples therapist. She is kind, patient, and deeply empathic. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to each of our sessions in a way that always feels thoughtful and attuned to our specific needs. Rebecca truly listens and has a tremendous ability to reflect back what I’m saying in ways that help me make sense of my own thoughts and emotions. What stands out most is how skillfully she’s able to connect with and attune to both me and my partner, creating space for each of us to feel heard and understood. On top of all of this, Rebecca is extremely down-to-earth, which makes the work feel both safe and very relatable. I highly recommend Rebecca.”

Getting to know Rebecca Eklund

The provider is a “Licensed Professional Counselor" and their license number is 37PC01152900. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with seven years of experience in mental health and substance abuse counseling. I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness from New York University and a Bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at New Paltz. I am committed to providing a non-judgmental, safe, and vitalizing space for all my clients. Currently, I am training in Emotionally Focused Therapy to help couples reconnect and strengthen their bonds, as well as to assist individuals in healing from trauma, coping with anxiety and depression, and building resilience. For the past eight years, I have volunteered to support LGBTQAI youth and other underserved communities. I am determined to empower clients to achieve their therapeutic goals and believe deeply in their ability to heal and thrive in their individual lives.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My experience is using Emotionally Focused Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral methods and mindfulness practices to help couples and individuals with challenges related to anxiety, depression, relationships, substance abuse, career, motivation, sexuality and gender, and chronic health issues. While I do view the process of therapy as work, I also welcome humor and like to celebrate clients' progress in our sessions.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

As a therapist with most of my experience in mental health and substance abuse counseling, I look at therapy as a joint effort between myself and the client to clarify their values, form their goals and take a step-by-step approach to reaching them. Change can be an overwhelming process to undergo, and I aim to make it feel achievable by guiding folks through this process using evidence-based approaches, while keeping their personal and cultural background in mind.

Rebecca has given me a voice when I lost mine for so many years. I feel heard and seen. I want to say thank you for your knowledge.
Rebecca is great so easy to talk to and creates a warm atmosphere I was skeptical about therapy but she has definitely made the process easier and I’m sticking to it.
