Getting to know Rebecca Erin Bennett

My approach to therapy is collaborative, curious, and warm. My goal is to equip you with tangible tools that prime your innate ability to heal, experience clarity, and identify purpose. I utilize an eclectic blend of person-centered, family systems, existential, and mindfulness-based CBT, alongside other meaning-making and spiritual tools like astrology (for those interested) to empower my clients to live with conscious intention. I hold a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Carson-Newman University. My experience is primarily in working with adolescents, young adults making the transition from college to career, as well as working professionals. I have served individuals from a wide range of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds as they work through issues of anxiety, depression, life transitions, stress management, trauma, spirituality, and personal fulfillment. I trust that you already have everything you need inside of you—I would love to hold space for you while you find it.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You can expect your first session with me to be exploratory and open--I want to ensure I establish a good working understanding of the issues that brought you to counseling so I can provide the most personalized feedback and treatment. Therapy with me is somewhat informal and it's important to me that I leave space for you to feel listened to and understood.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Throughout our sessions I will be operating from a needs-based model, meaning I will make an assessment of your level of functioning to determine your needs in therapy. Sessions will reflect your level of need. For example, clients who are struggling with complex developmental trauma, experience a lot of fear and anxiety in their everyday lives, or who struggle to feel safe in their bodies will begin with basic skills and practices meant to ground and stabilize symptoms. Alternatively, many clients I work with may feel confident about their ability to manage daily stress and anxiety, but are perhaps struggling with issues of identity (social, cultural, relational, familial, spiritual, personal, etc.) which may impact their home life, profession, or significant relationships. The needs of these clients may be best served by engaging in deep exploration of self to identify internal patterns that are holding them back. These are just some examples. My care is individualized and it's important to me that you feel involved in your own healing process. Ultimately, I am a guide, and you are the expert on you. It is my intention that you gain a sense of agency over your life by participating in therapy with me.

I would describe therapy with Erin as fulfilling and productive. She takes the goals she creates with you in the beginning and really works towards achieving those goals with you. I would absolutely recommend having Erin as your therapist.
I think Erin is such a great, compassionate soul. She is very knowledgeable and has a lot of great resources and information to share. I love that she knows a lot about astrology too, since that is something I also believe in. One thing I would say is that as a talker myself, sometimes I don't know how long I'm talking for so I wouldn't mind an interrupt if she has something to add/question, because she always has amazing and helpful things to say.
Erin has an incredible way of blending empathy with insight, making each session feel both supportive and enlightening. She has a gift for helping you connect the dots in your own life, and her ability to weave therapeutic techniques with astrology has brought a unique depth to our work together. I always leave feeling more grounded and with a clearer sense of direction. Erin is the kind of therapist who genuinely cares and is committed to helping you grow. I highly recommend her to anyone seeking a compassionate and effective therapist.
I have been seeing therapists on and off for 10 years, and Erin has by far been the best. She is very easy to talk to and so understanding. She has a special way of listening that not everyone is capable of. She validates me, but she also holds me accountable for my behavior. I am very thankful I found her.
