Rebecca O'Neill, LCSW

Psychotherapist
37 Sycolin Rd SE, Leesburg, VA
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with nearly 10 years of clinical experience supporting children, adolescents, adults, and families. My work is grounded in a strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming philosophy that honors each client’s individuality, autonomy, and lived experience. I believe every person and family already possesses meaningful capacities and strengths, and therapy is a collaborative process of building on those strengths while developing skills that support an authentic and fulfilling life. My therapeutic style is warm, relational, and developmentally informed. I specialize in working with neurodivergent clients from an affirming lens that rejects neuronormative standards and approaches that encourage masking at the expense of well-being, autonomy, and self-understanding. My work focuses on regulation, connection, self-awareness, and self-advocacy, meeting clients where they are and honoring their goals and values. DIR/Floortime is foundational to all of my clinical work, regardless of age or diagnosis. I am a certified PLAY Project and AutPlay therapist and believe deeply in the therapeutic power of play, creativity, and relationship across the lifespan. I have a special passion for early intervention and provide strengths-based, non-pathologizing autism evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults. I am also a certified Geek Therapist and Therapeutic Game Master. When appropriate, I integrate clients’ special interests, pop culture, and tabletop role-playing games such as Dungeons & Dragons to support confidence, communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and emotional regulation in an engaging and empowering way. Above all, my goal is to create a therapeutic space where clients feel safe, understood, respected, and empowered to show up as their full selves. Therapy with me is collaborative, affirming, and paced to support growth over time.
