Getting to know Dr. Rebecca Steele

I want therapy to feel useful in your day-to-day life. Whether it’s a new perspective or a concrete strategy, my goal is for you to leave with something that makes things feel more manageable. I’m thoughtful and practical in how I work, so our sessions are both supportive and focused on helping you move forward. I also see this as a collaborative process. I’m here to help you make sense of things and build skills, not to tell you what to do.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is thoughtful, collaborative, and grounded in helping you build practical skills that you can actually use in your daily life. I focus on understanding how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected, and then we work together to shift the patterns that are keeping you stuck. I tend to balance insight with action. It’s important to understand why something is happening, but it’s just as important to have tools to manage it. I draw from evidence-based approaches like CBT and DBT, tailoring them to fit you rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. Above all, I see therapy as a partnership. We move at a pace that feels right for you, with a clear focus on helping you feel more in control, more capable, and more at ease in your life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first session, you can expect a calm, structured conversation where I take the time to understand what’s bringing you in and what you’re hoping to get out of therapy. We’ll talk through your current concerns, relevant history, and any patterns you’ve noticed, while also beginning to identify some initial goals. I’ll ask thoughtful questions, but there’s no pressure to share everything at once. By the end, you should have a clearer sense of how we’ll work together and a direction for moving forward.
